Peggy Buckles Memorial Scholarship Program
This scholarship honors Peggy Buckles, one of our Founding Fairies. Peggy’s warm heart, smiling face, cheerful disposition, and desire to help all high school students have increased self-esteem serve as the bedrock of our mission.
Each year, Fairy Goodmothers' Sustaining Board and Active Board provide scholarships to up to two senior high school youths who have received prom attire from Cinderella’s Closet Boutique. The awards will be based on GPA, community service, and essays.

“Fairy Goodmothers was a huge help to my prom experience. I can’t tell you the financial burden that was lifted off of me. It made prom more accessible, especially as a student who’s lived in poverty most of my life. So, thank you for making my prom experience possible!
A piece of advice I would give someone looking to get more involved is to be bold, be brave, and take the leap. I encourage any young person to take the opportunity that is handed to them, even if it seems boring, lame, or a lot of work, because sometimes, those turn out to be the best moments. Those times turn out to be the place where you meet your future employer, or someone who gives you an opportunity for a scholarship, or even just someone who maybe 5 years down the line can connect you with someone in your career or industry! It takes small steps to make the biggest impact over time.
I’m looking forward to meeting new people and seizing the opportunities college offers me. I’ll be attending Ohio University in the fall, and I’m excited to find my people, my family, and my home!”

“Fairy Goodmothers has been a wonderful resource for the last two years. It took a lot of pressure off my family and me regarding looking for a dress. The volunteers are all so welcoming and kind; they make you feel confident in your choices. The organization as a whole has been a sturdy pillar, especially during prom season. I have many friends who also found a dress they loved from Cinderella’s Closet Boutique.
My advice to any teenager who may be looking to get more involved at school or in their community is to try new things even when you’re nervous. Being able to challenge yourself to find something you enjoy and sticking with it really builds a lot of self-confidence as well as inspiration to do even more! Once you get the ball rolling, it only gets easier to find ways to help those around you.
As I move to college, I am most looking forward to meeting many new faces and getting involved on campus: joining clubs, volunteering for events, and finding different ways to give back to the community.”
